Application Identifier 10 is used to specify a unit batch/lot number.
A batch number can contain various information, such as production line number, production time, mix number, etc. Common to this information is that a given product can be traced by this batch number.
The receiving company does not need to know the structure of the batch/lot number.
NOTE: Most retailers will only accept one batch number per pallet.
AI 10 must appear with either AI 01 or AI 02.
Application Identifiers for Dates
Application Identifiers 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 17 are used to enter different dates. When the dates are entered on a logistical unit, the dates refer to units contained in the shipping unit.
If the products in a unit have different dates, the oldest date is always selected. All dates have a fixed data format of n2+n6, and the format of n6 is YYMMDD.
All AI for dates must perform with AI 01 or AI 02.
Example:
July 1, 1999 is specified as 990701.
Example:
The end of August 1999 is entered as 990800.
Example:
June 15, 2000 is specified as 000615.
Example:
November 26, 2001 is entered as 011126.
When entering dates, the last two digits of the year are always used:
Year 1999 = 99
Year 2000 = 00
Year 2001 = 01
NOTE: Most retailers will only accept one product/shelf life date per pallet.
