Barcodes for pallets (SSCC)

SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) is an identification number for a pallet, package or other type of shipment. Each shipping unit must have its own unique SSCC number - even if it contains the same products.

To generate the 18-digit SSCC code, the company prefix (7 to 11-digit number) that you receive when you purchase a GS1ID subscription via MyGS1 is used

  1. 1. Find your company prefixes via the GS1Trade Activate platform under the menu item "Overview"
  2. 2. When generating a GS1-128 pallet label, you need to enter an SSCC code. The first one must be calculated manually. Read more about the structure of a pallet label and how to build an SSCC based on the 7-11 digits here
  3. 3. When you make multiple GS1-128 pallet labels in the future, the system will remember the last SSCC code you used and inform you of the next one.

We recommend that you note every time you have used an SSCC and for what.
