The last digit in all GS1 numbers is a check digit.
The check digit is calculated from the preceding digits. It is used as a check for both the GS1 number and the barcode.
Therefore, it is important that the check digit is correct - otherwise the barcode cannot be read.
The check digits are calculated according to the Modulus-10 algorithm
