In common parlance, many people know the GTIN as a barcode, but technically the GTIN is the number below the barcode symbol itself, and can therefore also be used for other technologies such as 2D barcodes and RFID tags.

Invitation to the launch of GS1Trade Packaging in 2024
NEW! Now you also get an English version of the tool.
Up to 41,000 Danish companies are expected to be covered by producer responsibility for packaging from April 2024, which makes companies responsible for their products' packaging, even when it becomes waste.
With a starter kit from GS1, you get the tools to get started. If you use the packaging calculation tool, you'll have all the information you need for the first reporting for the period April 1 - August 31, 2024. You'll also be well on your way when you later need to report your actual packaging volumes. Your data can be transferred to our upcoming service, GS1Trade Packaging, to make your future structuring and declaration of packaging data as efficient as possible.
Our Sustainability & Business Developer, Iben Stanhardt, takes you through what our packaging calculation tool can do and how to enter and calculate your packaging materials and quantities.
During the summer of 2024, we will launch our new service, GS1Trade Packaging, for structuring and declaring packaging data, for which the starter kit is a precursor.
