In common parlance, many people know the GTIN as a barcode, but technically the GTIN is the number below the barcode symbol itself, and can therefore also be used for other technologies such as 2D barcodes and RFID tags.

From 1 January 2024 it will be it easier to generate GTIN, GLN, SSCC, etc. as you will be able to generate all of the most frequently used identification numbers based on your company prefix.
Up until 30 November 2023, you can sort through your products in GS1Trade Sync to ensure that you from 1 january 2024 only pay for the product data you need. We've created a quick video guide to show you the best way to clear up your data.
Here we have listed the changes that will take effect at GS1 Denmark in 2024.
In 2024, you will no longer be able to buy GLN and GTIN separately. Instead, you will, for example, be able to buy a prefix 10, from which you will be able to generate GLN/GTIN numbers for use as needed.
One of the biggest changes you will experience as a member of GS1 Denmark is the pricing of GS1Trade Sync.
Until now, the price of your GS1Trade Sync subscription has been calculated on your company's income. From 2024, the price will

Use the same details you use when you log in to 'My GS1'.
NOTE! The calculation of your price for 2024 is based on the same type and amount of standards and services from GS1 that you are currently using. If you are a user of GS1Trade Sync, the new price is estimated based on your current data usage. Prices are subject to change in accordance with GS1 Denmark's general terms and conditions for price changes.
For you as a user of GS1Trade Sync, this means a change in the way we charge you. We are moving from a revenue-based price to a price based on your usage of the system. In short - those who use the system the most, pay the most. We think this is fair for everyone. At the same time, it is in line with how global IT services are settled today.
What do the changes mean for me as a data supplier?
Data suppliersin GS1Trade Sync must pay a fixed subscription fee as of January 1, 2024 and will then be billed based on usage. For data suppliers, it is based on the number of active GTINs in GS1Trade Sync. You can therefore benefit from entering GS1Trade Sync already now to ensure that from January 1, 2024, you only pay for the number of active GTINs you need. Watch the video further up the page here, which guides you on how to easily and quickly review your active GTINs in GS1Trade Sync.
What do the changes mean for me as a data recipient?
As of January 1, 2024, data recipients in GS1Trade Sync must pay a fixed subscription fee and will then be billed based on consumption. For data recipients, you pay for the number of GTINs you extract data on. Data recipients, who are also data providers, do not pay for the use of their own data. You can therefore benefit from joining GS1Trade Sync already now to ensure that from January 1, 2024, you only pay for the product data you need.
In general, the changes will make it easier for you to generate identification numbers for your barcodes. From January 1, 2024, it will be possible to generate all the identification numbers you need based on your company prefix alone. In isolation, we are adjusting the price of identification numbers, but at the same time we are increasing your flexibility, so that in the future you will be able to generate one GTIN, which today is only available in packages.
In addition, your GS1 membership will include one GLN/EAN number, which is required for invoicing to the public sector. We recommend that you already now start cleaning up any inactive identification numbers/number series and GLN numbers, so that from January 1, 2024, you only pay for the numbers you actually use.
You can withdraw from your agreement with GS1 Denmark at any time if you no longer wish to use GTIN, GLN or any of the many services we offer our members.
According to your membership and subscription conditions, the deadline is six months.
If you wish to withdraw before the new and future changes enter into force, we must receive your withdrawal by 31 August 2023 at the latest. You can withdraw using this form.
The new membership and terms of use can be found here.
