Data recipients

Get insight into which companies can receive data in GS1Trade Sync

Below you can see an overview of which data recipients you can share data with via GS1Trade Sync, the Danish GDSN solution. A data recipient can be a direct customer, but it can also be a company that collects and works with data for apps and diet planning or public research and analysis.

Public research and analysis

Public authorities, non-profit organizations and research institutes can apply for membership and thereby gain access to data that belongs to the data recipient: Government Research and Analysis: GLN 5790000435555.

  • Members in this data recipient group must have a stated purpose of providing research or analysis.
  • Members of this group may not use data for commercial purposes, nor may they disclose data to third parties without written consent from GS1.
  • This data recipient will not be charged for its data pull as other data recipients normally are.
  • Data available to this data recipient is either public or private data that members/suppliers have given access to.

Statens Serum Institut and GS1 data

Why will SSI use GS1 data?
‍SSI
uses data from GS1Trade Sync to investigate how what we eat, drink, lubricate ourselves with, or clean our homes with affects our health, through analysis of consumption patterns, among other things.

‍WhatSSI uses data for?
‍In
order to analyze the impact of consumption patterns on health, information about the products purchased is essential.
Key information that is very difficult to obtain from sources other than GS1Trade Sync is: information about ingredients, nutrients or allergens, as well as product shelf life and weight and packaging. Data from GS1Trade Sync enables analyses that would not be possible today and makes it possible, for example, to focus on content/ingredients rather than individual products.

‍Inwhat contexts is data used?
‍Data
is primarily used in a research context. Especially research where, for example, consumer data is used to investigate the link between shopping patterns and disease. In the future, data will be used to support Statens Serum Institut's work to prevent citizens from becoming ill, for example in food-borne outbreaks. With the current development of product master data, this could also lead to faster detection and more limited recalls of foodborne outbreaks, for the benefit of citizens and industry.

‍Whoactually gets access to data?
Data from GS1Trade Sync data is analyzed by researchers and analysts in secure environments such as Statistics Denmark, and data is not shared with commercial actors.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and GS1 data

Why does the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration use GS1 data?
‍The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration
uses data from GS1Trade Sync to follow the development in the Danish food range - for example, whether product sizes have become smaller on average, whether a given category (e.g. confectionery) contains less energy, or whether there is a larger selection of Keyhole labeled products in a given category.

What does the Danish Veterinary andFood Administration use data for?
‍Data
is used to follow up on objectives set in the Food Partnership for Health and Climate.

‍Inwhat contexts is data used?
‍Data
is used in the Food Partnership, which you can read more about here.

‍Whoactually gets access to data?
‍Only
the National Food Administration gets direct access to data. The results (e.g. the development of calorie content in confectionery over time) are shared with the partners in the Food Partnership, but individual companies are not singled out or highlighted as doing well or badly in relation to the objectives and results of the Food Partnership. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration does not publish specific products and their contents - the focus is on general categories such as bread, sweets, cakes, cold cuts, etc.

CBS and GS1 data

Expand icon - a dark blue circle with a dark blue plus insidefold icon - a dark blue circle with a dark blue minus inside

Why does CBS want to use GS1 data?
‍We
have access to a large dataset of 2,000 Danes' food purchases over two years. We would like to calculate the environmental impact of these purchases and investigate any socio-demographic differences in purchasing habits.

‍Whatwill CBS use the data for?
‍We
will primarily use the data to write scientific articles. However, we may also communicate with relevant stakeholders such as supermarkets or municipalities. There will be no focus on specific products/brands.

Inwhat contexts is the data used?
‍It
is used exclusively for research purposes.

‍Whoactually gets access to the data?
‍Our
research project consists of several universities outside Denmark, including University of Oxford, University of Basel, and Justus Liebig University Giessen. CBS is responsible for data access and data management, and ensures that GS1 conditions are met.
